I lived in Minnesota my first twelve years, then nine in Los Angeles, graduated from Humboldt State University, and then 15 years of life at the beach in beautiful Santa Cruz, California. After meeting a Tica-Gringa in L.A., we moved down here in November of 1993. In those days, Costa Rica offered 3 channels for cable TV, finding a “snickers” was like winning the lottery, home phone lines took years to obtain, and very few had ever heard the word “mall”.

My, how times have changed!!! And while some may think Costa Rica is paradise, or others too much like the states, my sentiments lie in the middle. It’s a great place to live; it has many comforts of home, but everyday there are reminders that you are “not in Kansas anymore”.  Living in Jaco is like realizing the dream- when one fantasizes while on vacation of moving away from the States and living in a tropical paradise!  Well, for me its Jaco!!
